Gawcott

Executive Summary

This three-bedroom detached home in Gawcott has been built to a low-energy, air tight, passive design. The property consists of a large lounge opening onto a kitchen with vaulted ceiling and dining-family area. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, with the master bedroom having an en-suite and there is a separate family bathroom. The house also features a heat exchange system which allows fresh air to run through the property whilst releasing the used air outside.

Challenges

The developer on this project wanted to build an energy efficient, high quality house, which he could build and sell quickly.

How Thermohouse Helped

The Thermohouse building team supplied and installed all the external and internal walls in ThermoWall ICF blocks. The ThermoFloor panels were used to create an insulated concrete floor to provide an acoustic barrier between the two levels. Finally, the ThermoRoof was installed to provide sufficient ceiling height for the first-floor rooms. The combination of the three structural elements provided the basis for a well-insulated airtight structure ready for finishes and joinery. The entire interlocking structure was erected within only 6 weeks.
